Neeps and Tatties Sculpting Contest

NEEPS1The Caledonian Club of Sacramento invites you to submit sculptures to the “Neeps and Tatties” Sculpture Contest and Exhibition, to be held at the Sacramento Valley Scottish Games in Woodland, California. The traditional Scottish dish Neeps and Tatties has variations, but this contest requires the use of one or any combination of the traditional ingredients. Only the following will be considered eligible ingredients:

  • Potatoes
  • Rutabagas
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Nutmeg

Use of all ingredients is not required, but inclusion of any other ingredients will disqualify the sculpture. Ingredients may be used in any form (raw, whipped, dried, carved, sprouted, etc.).

The sculpture may be held together with wooden pins or tooth-picks, or wire; no glue. Supports must not be visible. Water is also an acceptable additive.

No rank odors may emanate from your art work. Lemon juice and vinegar (to retard blackening) and especially drips of Scotch (to retard sobriety) will not be considered “rank.”

Hair spray may be used to prevent blowing pepper, etc. in case a wicked, kilt-lifting wind may breeze through.

Maximum Dimensions: Rigid, invisible base no bigger than 20” x 20”. Maximum height 20”

Open to anyone 18 years and older. We are not only the “Friendly Games” but also the child friendly games. Entrants failing to meet our PG13 standards will be asked to choose a venue elsewhere. Please ensure that your entry is acceptable and avoid any awkwardness or wasted effort.
