haggis 1Do you have a secret desire to hurl a haggis? It’s easy! All you have to do is stand on a half whisky barrel (or a straw bale) and throw the frozen haggis farther than anyone else. Well, perhaps it’s not as easy as it looks … But it’s a lot of fun, and the winners get great prizes.

And anyone can do it. Athletes do it. Here’s Mike Quatramous, who announces for the athletic contests, and a former competitor, showing how it’s done.

You can do it even if you’re not an athlete. The frozen haggis only weighs five pounds, and we give you hints on form and technique to help you give it your best shot.

You can even do it if you’re a kid! We have a special division for children, and they have a grand time, just like the adults do.

haggis 2This year the haggis hurling contests are only for adults and children. Contests will be in the main arena on Saturday from 10 am to 10:45 at Area 21 and Sunday from 10 am to 11 am at Area 21.

We hope you’ll join in this very popular event, and try your skill at hurling the haggis! You might walk off with a nice prize, and we guarantee you’ll have a lot of fun trying!
