PCPB-1wThe one-hundredth and fortieth anniversary of the Sacramento Valley Scottish Games and Festival is just around the corner. And this year will be a banner year for the Piping and Drumming Competition. We have four Grade II pipe bands competing this year with Prince Charles Pipes and Drums, The Irish Pipers of San Francisco, the Queen City Pipe band from Fort Collins, Colorado, and last but not least, the Wasatch & district Pipe Band from Utah. We also have full field of competitors from around the West in the solo competitions, as well as the lower grade pipe bands.

The Sacramento Valley Scottish Games & Festival has built up a world class list of judges and a reputation as being a premier competition. The quality of piping and drumming should be superb. The skirl of the pipes will fill the air all around you at these games, as the competitions will take place all over the fair grounds. The band competition in the afternoon will be one of the central focal points of the games at center stage culminating with the Grade II competition and massed bands.

The host band this year will be Prince Charles Pipes and Drums out of the bay area. Prince Charles will be playing the opening ceremonies, the parade of clans, and the drum major competition, which is also set center stage. The music should be fun and fast.
